The final colored piece of Jessica’s Star Trek pinup. I could have worked more on this, but I really liked the black and white version of this better anyways. So the color was more an exercise in practicing some techniques and really doing some serious painting. In the end, I went a LOT lighter on her skintone, only because it wasn’t looking like Jessica at all with the Jersey Shore tan. Plus, it made her look a lot softer. I also did some surgery on her phaser arm, shortening it up a bit from the original pencil. If I decide to sell the original pencil, there’s that unique variation that should make it worth more.
In any event, I had a lot of fun with this one. I’ve asked a few other geeky ladies to “pose” for my pinup project in the coming weeks. I’m taking some time off for a bit, but I should be able to do some sketching on my return.
This is so cool! I’m very excited to be a part of Len’s art. He’s @jawboneradio on Twitter and is the mastermind and talent behind the Geek a Week trading cards sold through Think Geek!
